Tuan Haji Azman Ismail, Managing Director Shell Malaysia Trading Sdn Bhd & Shell Timur Sdn Bhd cum General Manager Retail Business of Malaysia, Singapore, Hong Kong and Brunei, accompanied by 20 top leaders of Shell Downstream team visited UTP to engage with the final year engineering and technology students in the “Shell Downstream Day, We Care, We Share” event on 15th June 2012 at the Undercroft, Chancellor Complex.

The Shell Downstream delegates included En. Rozano Saad, Managing Director, Shell Refinery Port Dickson, Mr. Leslie Ng, Retail National Sales and Operation Manager, Mr. Au Tong Sing, General Manager Sales, Shell Lubricants Malaysia/Singapore and MD East, Mr. Yap Tze Khong, Local Senior Supply & Distribution Lead, Pn. Nur Azlina Mohd Yazid, General Manager DS Human Resource - Malaysia, Mr. Ferdinand Tan, Retail IT Manager East, Pn. Lily Rozita, Managing Counsel, Shell Malaysia Limited, Mr. Frank Saing, General Manager Corporate Affairs, Shell Malaysia, Mr. Leong Kah Fye, Downstream HSSE Adviser, Mr. Kent Lim, Business Integrity Manager- Asia Pacific, Mr. Arul Prakash Raman, DS Controller- Malaysia and En Zairi Dzuljastri, MD Forum Secretary/ Retail Network Planner – Malaysia/Hong Kong. The event was co-organised by Career Advisory Unit, UTP and Shell-UTP Campus Ambassador Programme Manager, En. Wan Ahmad Anis Wan Mohd Shukri who is also UTP Alumni.

About 350 students from various specialisation attended the 3 hours sharing session and interact with the leaders in the three main sections of the downstream business namely Retail & Global Commercial, Manufacturing and Supply & Distribution and IT, Legal, Finance and Human Resource.

With the booming potential of employment in the oil and gas industry, Shell management acknowledged UTP graduates as their prominent future workforce. To date, about 20 UTP graduates are now working with Shell group of companies either locally or globally. Tuan Haji Azman Ismail in his speech advised UTP graduates to learn to articulate personal thoughts well, invest time in networking and relationship building and sets high personal work ethics in order to be successful in any career path that they wish to take in the near future. With this manifestation, our academic delivery and structured internship programme has proven that UTP is in the right direction in preparing the nation for the high-skilled manpower especially for the oil and gas industry.
