Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS (UTP)’s Advanced Technology & Innovation Centre (ATIC) was officially opened at Technology Park Malaysia, Bukit Jalil by Puan Juniwati Rahmat Hussin, Chairman, Institute of Technology PETRONAS (ITPSB) Board of Directors & Vice President, HRM PETRONAS.

ATIC is established in line with the government’s policy that encourages transfer of knowledge and technology between universities and industries. It functions as a ‘one-stop centre’ for UTP to provide for the needs of industry and a ‘shop window’ to display UTP’s expertise and facilities worldwide.
The Centre is set up at Technology Park Malaysia (TPM), situated within the Klang Valley area to support collaboration between the University and external entities such as industry and government agencie.

With the opening of ATIC, it is hoped that the University can promote collaboration and establish strategic alliances with industry, academic and research institutions, provide support to academics and researchers at UTP in dealing with industry and research organisations, transfer knowledge and technology between the University and external entities, and promote deployment and commercialization of IP through business collaboration and joint ventures through our commercialization and IP unit.

Also present were UTP’s Vice Chancellor, YBhg Datuk Dr. Zainal Abidin Haji Kasim; Chairman of Schlumberger Asia, En Ainul Jamal; Vice President of Schlumberger Oilfield Services, Brunei, Malaysia & Philippines, Dr Demos Pafitis and Vice President, Business Development & Corporate Services of Technology Park Malaysia Corporation Sdn. Bhd (TPM), En. Ahmad Husni Johari.
