BRIEF DESCRIPTION
Schlumberger is the leading oilfield services provider, trusted to deliver superior results and improved E&P performance for oil and gas companies around the world.
Since June 2006, Schlumberger and PETRONAS have a Strategic Alliance Agreement. Under this alliance, a prestigious PhD scholarship is established as one of the newly added initiatives. The scholarship is aimed to support UTP initiative in its Transformation Journey to become a research university. The scholarship is called the Schlumberger Prestigious PhD Scholarship.
COURSES OFFERED
The recipient of this scholarship will undertake full-time on campus PhD study in any of the Science and Engineering programmes offered at UTP provided in the areas related to Enhanced Oil Recovery (EOR).

ELIGIBILITY TO APPLY
- Malaysian applicants only
- Possess a Bachelor’s Degree with a CGPA of at least 3.25
- Possess a coursework/mixed mode Master’s degree with a CGPA of at least 3.25 or a research mode Master’s Degree with at least 1 (one) article published in peer-reviewed journals or equivalent qualifications recognised by the UTP Senate.
- Relevant work experience will be given due consideration during selection.
- English Requirement (For international students)
Candidates are required to show proficiency in written and spoken English in one of the following forms:
- A minimum TOEFL score of 550 or
- A minimum IELTS score of 6.0 or
- A minimum ELTS score of Band-6 or
- A minimum MUET score of Band-4
- Applicants who are native English speakers or holding a degree with English as the medium of instruction may be exempted from this requirement.
BENEFITS OF SCHOLARSHIP
- The scholarship will be for a maximum of 36 (thirty-six) months and subject to obtaining good semester assessments.
- Monthly allowance of RM 4,000.00 per month.
- An approved tuition fees by the University.
- Book allowance of RM 1,000.00
- Thesis allowance of RM 2,000.00 (once during the whole duration of study).
- Presenting research papers at approved national or international conferences in Malaysia or approved international conferences in South East Asia Region- 4 (four) times total and one approved international conference in other regions
(Schlumberger reserves the right to review the benefits of the scholarship at any time and if such changes are made, the changes and the effective date will be informed to the candidate/recipient)
