Qualification for Each Programme


i) Academic Requirement

MSc Programme (by Research)

a) Fresh Graduate

Candidates must hold a BSc Degree with minimum CGPA 3.00/4.00 or 2nd Class Upper Division or equivalent in the relevant field from a recognized university

b) With relevant experience

Candidates must hold a BSc Degree or equivalent in the relevant field from a recognized university

 

ii) English Requirement

 

Candidates are required to show proficiency in written and spoken English in one of the following forms:

 

  • A minimum TOEFL score of 550 or
  • A minimum IELTS score of 6.0 or
  • A minimum ELTS score of Band-6 or
  • A minimum MUET score of Band-4
  • Applicants who are native English speakers or holding a degree with English as the medium of instruction may be exempted from this requirement.

By definition, Mission Oriented Research is a focused area, which is multidisicplinary in nature and in line with PETRONAS' and the nation's needs. To date there are nine Mission Oriented Research Group :

Note : *Commitment fee is part of tuition fees. It will be forfeited if applicants fail to register at the University or withdraw from the program after registration.

 

Other Matters for Consideration

 

Candidates are advised to have sufficient fund to cover the following expenses:

  • Hostel rental about RM 160 per month
  • Foods and beverages approximately RM 500 per month
  • Personal laptop
  • Transportation i.e motorcycle, car, bicycle

a) UTP GRADUATE ASSISTANTSHIP SCHEME (GA)

  • On campus student (research only).
  • Cover tuition fees (semester fee, research methodology, viva@examination).
  • Registration, accommodation and transportation are not covered and will need to be born by the student.
  • Candidate will be assigned 5 hours of academic activities per week in the form of tutorials or laboratory demonstration or any other related academic activities.
  • Candidate will need to perform 22 research days per month.
  • Monthly Subsistence Allowance.
    • MSc student – RM 1,650.00
    • PhD student – RM 2,200.00

 

b) UTP TUITION FEE ASSISTTANTSHIP SCHEME (TFA)

  • On campus student (research only).
  • Cover tuition fees (semester fee, research methodology, viva@examination).
  • Registration, accommodation and transportation are not covered and will need to be born by the student.
  • Candidate will be assigned 5 hours of academic activities per week in the form of tutorials or laboratory demonstration or any other related academic activities.

c) MINISTRY OF HIGHER EDUCATION (MOHE) – MyBRAIN15 Scholarship – MyMaster

  • Malaysian only.
  • On campus student (research / coursework).
  • Cover tuition fees not exceed RM 10,000 (semester fee, research methodology, viva@examination).
  • Registration, accommodation and transportation are not covered and will need to be borne by the student.

d) Employee Provident Fund (EPF) Withdrawal Scheme for Malaysian students only covering tuition fee



e) Ministry of Higher Education (MOHE) - Malaysia International Scholarship for international students covering tuition fees and allowance (On Campus only)
