Programme Information

The programme focuses on the application of engineering principles to the design, construction and operation of industrial processing plants that deals with chemicals, petrochemicals, pharmaceutical, semiconductor and food processing. Students will apply in-depth technical knowledge for problem identification, interpret, evaluate and improve system performance of a plant operation.

This programme will involve areas in design, construction and maintenance of infrastructures including buildings, roads, bridges, dams, water and wastewater treatment plant, oil and gas production facilities. Courses such as transportation, environmental, geotechnical, structural and wastewater will be expose to the students in providing them with a depth technical competence in any specific civil engineering discipline.

Programme Information

The Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) Electrical & Electronic Engineering programme at Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS emphasises a strong foundation in physics, mathematics, and chemistry, followed by a thorough coverage of basic electrical and electronic engineering courses such as circuit theory, analogue electronics, digital electronics, microprocessor, and signal & systems. At higher levels, students are exposed to data and computer networking, digital signal processing, VLSI system design, control theory, communication systems, and power electronics. At the final year, students have the opportunity to major in one of these selected areas of their interest:

• Power Systems Engineering
• Communication Systems
• Instrumentation and Control
• Embedded Systems

Programme Information

The focus of this programme is on the application of engineering principles to the design, development and manufacturing of mechanical devices and systems. The curriculum will teach the students to be creative and innovative in the design analysis and operation management of mechanical design systems.

Programme Information

The programme is intended to prepare students for the petroleum industry particularly in dealing with drilling, production, reservoir engineering and transportation of oil gas and other subsurface resources. Later the student will be equip with the knowledge on the exploration and production activities of petroleum at the upstream end of the energy sector.

Programme Information

The focus of this programme is on the exploration phase, its development and production. The programme curriculum will provide the students with a strong understanding of geology and geophysics in relation to petroleum discovery and exploration and later the students are able to apply this fundamental to solve geosciences related problem.

Entry Requirement

A-Level or equivalent

-    Pass A-Level with at least Grade C in Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry;

OR

International Baccalaureate (IB)

-    Pass International Baccalaureate (IB) with at least Point 4 in Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry;

OR

Foundation in Relevant Field from Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS

-    Pass Foundation Program in relevant field from Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS with at least a final CGPA of 2.00/4.00;

OR

Foundation in Relevant Field from a Recognized Institution

-    Pass Foundation Program in relevant field from an Institution which is recognized by the Malaysian Government with at least a final CGPA of 3.00/4.00;

OR

Diploma in Relevant Field from a Recognized Institution

-    Pass a Diploma Program in relevant field from an Institution which is recognized by the Malaysian Government with at least a final CGPA of 3.00 / 4.00;

OR

Australian Matriculation Program

-    Pass Australian Matriculation Program with at least Grade C in Mathematics, Specialised Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry:

• Year 12 Certificate, Australian Capital Territory;
• Higher School Certificate (HSC), New South Wales;
• Northern Territory Certificate Education (NTSE);
• Queensland Senior Certificate;
• South Australian Certificate of Education;
• Tasmanian Certificate of Education (TSE);
• Victorian Certificate of Education (VCE);
• Western Australia Certificate of Education (WACE);

OR

Other equivelent qualification recornised by the Malaysian Government;

AND

Additional Requirement for International Students:

• Application must be made using the final examination semester results.
• English requirement - IELTS score of 6.0 or TOEFL paper base score 550 or equivalent, OR English Placement Test (EPT) will be conducted to assess the applicant’s level of English proficiency. In some cases, student will be required to enroll for Intensive English Course at UTP before proceeding to Foundation or Undergraduate Programme.
