INTRODUCTION

 

UTP was established with the objectives of producing well-rounded graduates who possess technical competence, lifetime learning capacity, critical thinking, communication and behavioral skills, business acumen, practical aptitude and solution synthesis ability.

 

Currently, UTP offers eight programmes at the undergraduate level, namely, Chemical Engineering, Electrical & Electronics Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Petroleum Engineering, Petroleum Geoscience, Information & Communication Technology and Business Information Systems.

 

In order to achieve its objectives, UTP is aware that its students can enhance their knowledge not only from their course lecturers but also from industry practitioners who are experts in their respective fields. As such, UTP has embedded in its educational delivery a program where industry experts can share their experience with the students through a short lecture series.

 

 

OBJECTIVES

 

The main aims of appointing Adjunct Lecturers/Professors are as follows:

  • To integrate industry experience and practices into the university curriculum.
  • To provide students with a better understanding of real-life situations in their professions.
  • To synergise the resources available in industry especially within the PETRONAS group of companies.
  • To allow more active participation of industry practitioners in training and education.

CRITERIA OF ADJUNCT LECTURER/PROFESSOR

 

Adjunct lecturers are industrial practitioners that hold important positions in their respective companies.

 

There are two different criteria for Adjunct Lecturers and Adjunct Professors

  • A candidate for Adjunct Lecturer must have a minimum qualification of a Bachelor Degree or relevant professional qualifications, and a minimum experience of 10 years in the related field.
  • A candidate for Adjunct Professor must have a minimum qualification of a PhD or Senior Position, and a minimum experience of 15 years in the related field.
