Undergraduate Students
Grades from all education systems will be equated to the Malaysian Education System. Although some admission requirements may change, generally admission can only be considered once a completed application form, including application fees and all academic transcripts have been evaluated and the candidate has also attended the entrance interview assessment by panel members nominated by the University.
To be eligible for admission, a student must have finished at least 12 years of primary and secondary education from their respective countries. Obtaining a minimum of grade B or a minimum average of 80% on four relevant grade 12 subjects are required for applying to any of the Programmes offered by the University.
The required combinations of subjects depend on the program the student wishes to pursue.
Bachelor of Engineering (Honours)
It is a 4 year or 8 semester program depending on the point of entry and courses exempted at the point of admission. Students will have to undergo an Engineering Foundation study for a year and upon passing, a Bachelor of Engineering degree for four (4) years. Bachelor of Technology (Honours)
It is a three and a half year or 7 semester program depending on the point of entry and courses exempted at the point of admission. Students will have to undergo a Technology Foundation study for a year and upon passing, a Bachelor of Technology degree for three and a half year. English Language Proficiency
The medium of instruction in UTP is the English Language. A student must obtain a minimum of grade B or 80% marks in his/her grade 12 final examination. In addition, once admitted, the student will need to sit for the University English Proficiency Test before his/her first course registration. Should he/she fail in this English Proficiency Test, he/she will be required to register for a Pre-U English course conducted by the University or other recognised institutes, and obtain a pass grade before he/she is allowed to register for university level English. However, the student will be allowed to register for other university courses relevant to his/her program.
Note: International applicants are subject to the University’s English Language Proficiency requirement.

Applicants from Egypt, Gaza Strip, Jordan, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia and West Bank must present the General Secondary Education Certificates. The Secondary School Certificate is required of applicants from the United Arab Emirates and the Baccalaureate is required of applicants from Iraq and Syria.

General Certificates of Education (G.C.E) Systems
Four relevant subjects including English at the Advanced (or Principal) level, are required with a minimum of grade C or a minimum average of 60% with no marks below 50% on four relevant grade 12 subjects required to which program a student is applying.
