BACHELOR OF ENGINEERING (HONS) MECHANICAL

Introduction

The focus of this programme is on the application of engineering principles to the design, development and manufacturing of mechanical devices and systems. The curriculum will teach the students to be creative and innovative in the design analysis and operation management of mechanical design systems.

Programme Objective

To produce technically qualified well-rounded Mechanical Engineers with the potential to become leaders of industry and the nation.


 

Programme Outcomes

At the end of the programme, the graduates should be able to:

i. Apply knowledge of science and engineering principles in Mechanical Engineering systems, processes and applications.
ii. Apply knowledge of Mechanical Engineering fundamentals to evaluate and solve engineering problems using specific tools and techniques.
iii. Demonstrate an in-depth technical competency in Mechanical Engineering specialisations.
iv. Undertake design, analysis and synthesis in industry based problem solving.
v. Demonstrate professionalism and ethical practices in society.
vi. Demonstrate business acumen and entrepreneurship in Mechanical Engineering and other related businesses.
vii. Function and communicate effectively in a variety of professional context as an individual and in a team based approach, with the capability to be a leader or manager.
viii. Engage in life-long learning and independent study.

Career Prospects

Mechanical engineers are normally employed in industries producing automobiles, industrial machines and components and household appliances. The job involves designing of mechanical components and devices, supervising and maintaining the production operation. Mechanical engineers are also in demand in the oil and gas and power related.
